There’s pics that I don’t want people to look at when they’re scanning my camera roll

If you want to keep photos out of the way, hide them:

Hide photos or videos you want to keep but not show. While viewing thumbnails, tap Select, then select the photos or videos you want to hide. Tap User uploaded file, then tap Hide. The photos or videos are moved to the Hidden album.

Photos and videos are hidden from Moments, Collections, Years, and Memories, but are still visible in Albums.

On iOS 11, hidden photos are hidden everywhere, not just from the moments.

Mate. I’ve recently moved over to iPhone , and this issue/lack of function alone will make me go back to Samsung. The whole concept of having to copy and paste rather than move the original to a folder is such a mess. It makes carnage in my camera roll with multiples of edited photos and all sorts of rubbish!

Whoever though this was a good idea needs shooting.

Please Apple, give us the option to do what we want with our photos, it’s not a lot to ask.

I understand his question and I have the same frustration. I believe I am a very organized person and make folders and subfolders at work to keep all of my documents organized. So I try to move pictures from camera roll to another folder I made and there they are. But they are still in camera roll too. I thought the purpose of placing a picture into another folder was to keep it organized but the camera roll is still a mess. The comment about why not go to an android is a valid point. Every IOS upgrade something else gets changed or you lose a feature that someone has deemed unnecessary. If it were unnecessary then why was it there in the first place? Why did you change when you play a TV show that all episodes play? I used to be able to choose to play one or entire season but some genius decided that it was unnecessary. So keeping photos organized just isn't your thing or we must comply to your way or you say go somewhere else.

Great Job Apple!

The camera roll has not changed since it first has been introduced. It is the central storage where all photos are to make them accessible to other applications. Only photos in the camera roll can be used in other apps. And apps can save to the Camera Roll. It is the most basic low level container of all photos and not meant to be used by then users directly. If you enable iCloud Photo Library, the Camera roll will even be hidden, because most of the photos may be only in iCloud and no longer be stored locally. You'll have an "All Photos" album instead, that also cannot be modified. When we organize photos for our own needs, we create albums.
